It lists accurate submission dates. Our general play submission window is open Aug – Oct 1 during which we accept full-length new plays by all playwrights living in North America and writing primarily in English. Play submissions should be sent in care of the Literary Office.
Musical submissions (script and CD) should be sent to the attention of Kent Nicholson, Musical Theater Producing Associate. We award four to six commissions a year. We are currently seeking submissions for unproduce one act, original plays by living writers.
We are seeking a variety of genres and interesting stories of all kinds. Stories with LGBT characters are welcome! There is no monetary compensation. A video reel of your play will be provided.
Year-round submissions accepted. It begins with submitting your play and being selected for step of our process - a staged reading. All plays submitted to the festival are evaluated by a panel of professional theatre producers, directors, dramaturgs, playwrights , and publishers. Staged readings of works by Emerging Writers Group members are presented in the Spotlight Series at The Public.
The playwrights also participate in a bi-weekly writers group led by The Public’s New Work department and master classes led by established playwrights.

We are not interested in short one-act plays, romantic comedies or standard family dramas, farces, dark comedies without heart,. Multiple play submissions by the same playwright for the same season will not be considered. PLAYWRIGHTS ’ ARENA accepts unsolicited full-length plays from Los Angeles-based playwrights only and that comply with the company’s mission statement.
Submissions are limited to one play per playwright per season. We do not accept one-acts (less than minutes long), one-person shows or “kitchen sink” dramas. No musicals or children’s plays.
Plays must not have received a production of any kind. Playwrights must live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Manuscripts must be typed and in standard script format. Title page should include name and full contact information. We aim to bring together the latest opportunities, best resources, and good advice in one place.
Complete the online submission form to provide American Stage with information about the playwright and the play. In order to be accepte your submission package must be submitted as a single PDF. Prior productions are acceptable, but your play(s) must be new to the BTM.
We strive to find plays that tell new stories, ask tough questions, provoke thought, and challenge both actors and audiences. Theater staff work very har and often have to field hundreds of script submissions between only a few people. You want to make their job as easy as possible so you’re remembered as the playwright with the great script, not the playwright who can’t read instructions.
It provides emerging and established playwrights with a supportive environment to develop their work while offering local audiences high-quality theater experiences at little or no cost. We are constantly searching for playwrights, both local and national, with unique voices and points of view and who have new plays in. Translations, musicals, adaptations, and children’s plays are not accepted.
The Yale Drama Series is intended to support emerging playwrights.
